Periperio is a sandy beach located in the northeastern Larnaca Gulf, characterized by scattered pebbles and vegetation including palms and eucalyptus trees. The beach stretches 450 meters with a tourist kiosk at its center and several residences at its northeastern end. Access is easily achieved via an asphalt road connected to the primary and secondary road network. The maximum daily number of swimmers is 900.

Water

Northeastern Larnaca Gulf. Sandy seabed with scattered pebbles. Average water depth 1 meter, maximum depth 2 meters. Beach length 450 meters. Semi-natural littoral zone due to breakwaters constructed 150 meters parallel to the shoreline.

Location

Borokleini Community, Larnaca District, Cyprus. Access via asphalt road connected to the regional road network. Approximately 4.5 kilometers northeast of Larnaca port.

Facilities

Tourist kiosk. Approximately 100 fixed umbrella bases throughout the beach. Eight waste bins distributed along the entire beach length. Beach cleaning managed by Borokleini Community. No lifeguard, toilet, shower, or disabled access facilities mentioned.

Season

Monitoring conducted during bathing seasons 2008-2010. Southwesterly winds predominate during the bathing period.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal body to which this bathing area belongs is in good ecological status. Monitoring included in the surveillance program since 2008. Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development identified based on pollution sources in the terrestrial and marine influence zones.

Risks

Negligible risk of short-term pollution. Possible pollution sources include agricultural runoff and infiltration from the influence zone, agricultural-livestock and industrial installations, a landfill north of Borokleini, and septic tanks from residential and tourist developments upstream. A stream discharges approximately 200 meters west of the tourist kiosk, potentially increasing exposure to contaminated runoff. Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development.
