Karpasiana is a sandy, straight beach located in the northeastern part of Larnaca Bay, between Perptero Beach to the south and Giannades Beach to the north. The beach extends for 630 meters and is backed by tourist developments including holiday homes, hotels, and recreational facilities. A seafront road runs along the upper limit of the beach, with a pedestrian pathway running parallel to the shoreline. The beach is protected by submerged breakwaters positioned approximately 140 meters offshore.

Water

The bathing water is part of the northeastern Larnaca Bay, a coastal water body. The beach has an average water depth of 1 meter and a maximum depth of 2 meters. The seabed is covered with sandy material mixed in places with small pebbles. The beach length is 630 meters.

Location

The beach is located in the Larnaca district, within the Vorokleini community. Access is very easy via an asphalt road situated approximately 200 meters from the beach, connecting to the primary and secondary road network of the area.

Facilities

No specific public facilities are recorded on the beach apart from hotel infrastructure. Fourteen waste bins are distributed along the entire beach length. A pedestrian pathway runs parallel to the shoreline. Waste collection is managed by the Vorokleini community.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal body to which this bathing water belongs is in good ecological condition. Monitoring has been conducted for many years, with formal monitoring reports prepared in accordance with Directive 76/160/EEC since Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004.

Risks

There is a moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development based on identified pollution sources. Potential pollution sources include septic tanks from tourist developments upstream of the beach (as no sewerage network exists in the area) and motorized water sports activities at the northeastern boundary of the beach. Short-term pollution risk is negligible, with a frequency of approximately once during the bathing season lasting 1–2 days, primarily from rainwater runoff.
