Beach House is a sandy beach located in the northeastern Gulf of Larnaca, Cyprus. The beach has an almost straight coastline and is bordered to the south by the Nautical Club of Larnaca beach and to the north by the Kiosk beach. The beach material is predominantly sandy with deposits of small pebbles in strips parallel to the coastline. The inland area shows intense urbanization with numerous hotel units, holiday homes, and recreational facilities.

Water

Shallow bay of the Gulf of Larnaca. Beach length: 1,220 meters. Average water depth: 1 meter. Maximum water depth: 2 meters. Seabed composition: sandy material mixed with small pebbles. No seabed vegetation.

Location

Northeastern Gulf of Larnaca, Boroclini Community, Larnaca District, Cyprus. The monitoring point is located near the area of highest bather density, close to the tourist kiosk. Coordinates: 33.6575E, 34.9594N (ETRS89). The Larnaca port is approximately 3.5 km to the southwest.

Facilities

No public facilities are available. Only private facilities of adjacent recreational establishments exist. Waste collection is managed by the Boroclini Community Council.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data since Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004. The coastal water body is in good ecological condition. One isolated pollution incident was recorded during the 2007 swimming season attributed to a high number of bathers. No short-term pollution incidents were recorded during the 2008-2010 swimming seasons.

Risks

Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development due to agricultural and livestock runoff in the catchment area. Small risk of short-term pollution from stormwater runoff, passing ships, and malfunctioning sewage systems of coastal developments. Possible short-term pollution occurs approximately once during the swimming season and typically lasts 1-2 days.
