Playa Villananitos is a natural sandy beach in San Pedro, Lo Pagán, located in the Mar Menor coastal zone. The beach spans 500 metres in length with an average width of 30 metres and features golden sand. It is an urban, naturally-formed bathing area with high occupancy, serving approximately 7,150 maximum swimmers daily. The beach experiences micromareal tidal conditions with water renewal occurring within 7 days.

Water Quality

Water quality 2000–2009: rated as excellent except 2008 (rated good). Years 2010–2011: rated excellent. No significant pollution pressure. No authorized discharges in the adjacent area. Toxic phytoplankton monitoring conducted in 2008 and 2009 showed practically no presence of potentially toxic cells throughout the bathing season; risk assessed as null or very low.

Risks

Jellyfish blooms occur seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer; production levels are highly variable. Toxic phytoplankton risk is null or very low.
