Prarolo

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Prarolo-Porto di Lagna is a public access pebble beach on Lake Orta in the Piedmont region of Italy. The beach spans 118 metres in width and is located at 295 metres above sea level. A diving platform with stairs is available, along with toilet and shower facilities. The water has been classified as excellent based on routine monitoring samples from 2020 to 2023.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli (90th percentile: 10.4 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 15.8 MPN/100 ml). Enterococci (90th percentile: 23.7 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 38.2 MPN/100 ml). Wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 2 km from the sampling point.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can trigger overflow structures and accidental failures of pumping systems may cause discharge of untreated sewage into the lake. Inadequate sewerage management is a potential pollution source. No cyanobacterial blooms have been detected and no toxic effects on swimmers or aquatic environments have been recorded.
