Lordos Beach is a sandy beach located in the Larnaca Bay area of Cyprus. The beach is 345 meters long and features two parallel breakwaters constructed approximately 70 meters offshore, which have created a small artificial harbor and modified water circulation patterns. Tourist developments border the beach, and access is easy via an asphalted road connected to the main road network. The beach has a semi-natural shoreline with a sandy bottom containing some pebbles.

Water

Northeastern Larnaca Bay. The beach is 345 meters long with an average water depth of 1 meter and maximum depth of 2 meters. The seabed has sandy grain composition with some pebbles. Two breakwaters are positioned approximately 70 meters offshore.

Location

Located in the Larnaca district, Pylas community, Cyprus. Access is via an asphalted road that connects to the primary and secondary road network of the region. Parking information is not specified.

Facilities

Private facilities from adjacent hotels during summer include umbrellas and sun loungers. Waste bins are available on the beach. Waste collection is managed by the Pylas community. No public facilities are available. Maximum daily bathers: 450.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The bathing water has been monitored for many years, with formal monitoring reports according to Directive 76/160/EEC beginning in 2004 when Cyprus joined the European Union. The coastal body to which this water belongs is in good ecological condition.

Risks

Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development. Potential pollution sources include minor agricultural runoff and infiltration from septic tanks of tourist developments uphill from the beach, as there is no sewerage network in the area. Light vessel mooring and motorized water sports (jet skis) present potential pollution risks in the enclosed harbor. Short-term pollution risk is negligible with no recorded incidents during the 2008-2010 swimming periods.
