Rheinauen, Hohenems is a bathing site located in the area of the original course of the Rhine River. Since the Rhine cutoff at Diepoldsau in 1923, the original flowing water has become an oxbow lake and functions as a still water body. The area is designated as a protected biotope in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory, featuring an old channel section with well-developed vegetation ranging from open water surface through various succession stages to gallery forest, supporting diverse fauna and flora.
