Ristinge N is a fine sand beach located on the west coast of Langeland in the southern part of the island, facing Marstal Bay. The beach stretches along the small town of Ristinge and is separated from the town by a broad green area. The beach is 1,000 metres long and up to 20 metres wide, situated in naturally beautiful surroundings. The water is classified as brackish. Swimmers should be aware of the risk of rip currents, which are common natural phenomena at this location.

Water

Brackish water in Marstal Bay. The seabed off the beach consists of fine sand. Water depth increases steeply off the beach and is variable due to tidal and current changes. The beach is 1,000 metres long and up to 20 metres wide.

Location

Ristinge N is located on the west coast of the southern part of Langeland, along the town of Ristinge. Access to the beach is via Klinten, which leads to the beach car park. Parking is available at the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguards, toilets with drinking water, first aid kit, disabled access, rubbish bin, blue flag, parking, warning signs for poor bathing water quality, emergency telephone.

Season

Routine bathing water monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Water classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The classification is based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) during the bathing season. A minor drainage outlet may occur at the southern end of the beach during wet periods and may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria; bathing near the drainage outlet is discouraged. The water meets required values.

Risks

Risk of rip currents due to variable water depth caused by tides and changing current and weather conditions. Swimmers should be aware of rip current safety procedures. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large macroalgae (seaweed) deposits. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur. Sudden contamination possible from leisure boats, slurry tanks, or sewer lines.
