Hesselbjerg Strand is a 1,000-meter-long beach located on the west coast of southern Langeland, facing Marstal Bay. The beach comprises fine sand with scattered small and medium-sized stones, and the seabed consists of fine sand with occasional patches of small stones. The beach is up to 30 meters wide and situated in scenic natural surroundings with open green areas. It is accessible by car via Østersøvej, which leads to a parking area with toilet facilities.

Water

Risks

Risk of rapid depth increase and highly variable water conditions due to tides and currents. Rip currents are common and dangerous; swimmers are advised not to resist the current but to let it carry them seaward before swimming sideways to shore. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large quantities of seaweed (macroalgae) washing ashore. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
