Ronæs Strand

Ronæs Strand is a 230-metre sandy beach located at Ronæs Camping in Gamborg Fjord, near Middelfart. The beach is 3–5 metres wide and features small groynes at intervals of 10–20 metres. Seaweed accumulates on the beach seasonally and is removed daily during summer months by the campsite owners. The water is shallow with a sandy and rocky bottom. A bathing platform with a play area is positioned midway along the beach.

Water

Brackish water body (fjord) with salinity of 17–18 PSU. The beach extends from a northern descent at the campsite to a southern boat dock. Water is shallow with a sandy, rocky, and macroalgae bottom. Negligible water current observed at the bathing area.

Location

Ronæs Camping is located in Middelfart Municipality, in the inner part of Gamborg Fjord, northeast of Føns Vang. Parking is available at the campsite entrance, with toilet access also provided there.

Season

At least 6 bathing water samples are collected during the season.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as EXCELLENT based on enterococcus and E. coli measurements over the past four years according to EU bathing water directive standards. Monitoring occurs with at least 6 samples collected during the bathing season.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms are generally low risk, occurring primarily in the Baltic Sea and only spreading to the northern Little Belt during prolonged easterly winds. Phytoplankton blooms have not been observed in the past 5 years. Seaweed (eelgrass and macroalgae) regularly washes ashore and accumulates.
