Svenstrup Strand

Svenstrup Strand is a bathing water located in Gamborg Fjord in the northern part of Little Belt, southeast of Middelfart. The beach is approximately 100 metres long and consists of a grass-covered foreshore with large stones at the water's edge, requiring all swimming to occur from bathing piers. The area has relatively shallow water with a sandy bottom containing some stones, eelgrass, and macroalgae. The beach is situated at the end of a blind road accessible via Østre Hougvej or Ulvsbjergvej.

Water

Bathing water located in Gamborg Fjord within Little Belt. Approximately 100 metres long. Relatively shallow water with sandy bottom containing stones, eelgrass, and macroalgae. Brackish water with salinity of 17–18 PSU. Low current flow due to location within the fjord.

Location

Located in Middelfart Municipality, approximately three kilometres southeast of Middelfart town. Accessed via Svenstrup Strand road, which connects to Østre Hougvej or Ulvsbjergvej. Parking available at the beach and along Svenstrup Strand road.

Facilities

Two bathing piers with launching sites at each end. Rescue station on the beach. Parking spaces at the beach and along Svenstrup Strand road. Permanent disabled-accessible toilet. Tables, benches, and waste bins in the recreational area. Monitoring control station.

Season

At least six water samples are collected during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Classified as EXCELLENT based on measurements of enterococci and E. coli over the last four years according to EU Bathing Water Directive rules. No exceedances of microbiological parameter limit values recorded in the last five years (2015–2021). No evidence of faecal pollution from nearby septic systems or animals.
