Stenderup Hage

Stenderup Hage is a child-friendly beach in a peaceful, undisturbed area surrounded by green fields. The beach consists primarily of fine sand with stone breakwaters running perpendicular to the shore. It is an interesting location for snorkelling and offers parking and toilet facilities.

Water

The beach borders Lillebælt and is classified as brackish water. Water depth increases gradually from the shore and reaches less than 2 meters approximately 250 meters offshore. Current direction is variable. Water depth changes with tidal movement.

Address: Stenderuphagevej 5, 6092 Sønder Stenderup. The beach is 200 meters long. Parking and toilet facilities are available at the beach.

Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May before the bathing season.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality in 2020, based on routine monitoring samples from 2016–2019 testing for E. coli and enterococci bacteria. Classification is revised annually before the bathing season.

Risks

A small stream north of the beach may discharge periodically and contains high concentrations of fecal bacteria from grazing livestock; swimming in and around the stream outlet is not recommended. Risk of cyanobacteria blooms is low but possible. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low but possible. Macroalgae (seaweed) washed ashore creates risk of bacterial growth; swimming near large amounts of seaweed is not recommended. Glass shards and litter may occur. Sudden contamination from accidents such as pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines is possible.
