Rønshoved is a bathing beach approximately 100 meters long with varying width of 2 to 5 meters, located on the northern side of Flensborg Fjord near the town of Rønshoved. The beach comprises a narrow area with sand and small stones, with grass areas in the background. The seabed consists of sand with stones in the water's edge extending 3 to 5 meters out, and water depth remains under 5 meters up to approximately 150 meters from the shoreline. The beach is situated in immediate proximity to Rønshoved High School and is classified as excellent quality.

Location

Rønshoved, on the northern side of Flensborg Fjord. Parking and toilet facilities are available directly opposite the beach, along with seating, life rings, and trash bins. An information board about the beach and water quality is displayed at the site.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification determined based on regular control samples collected from 2019 to 2022. The area is served by public sewage systems. The contribution from stormwater discharge and surrounding areas to pollution is assessed as relatively low. Samples taken at the monitoring station show excellent quality.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms can occur, particularly after rainfall periods followed by warm periods. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) can appear in the shoreline. Sudden pollution may occur from incidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines. Strong winds and rain showers may cause temporary pollution lasting up to 3 days. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur.
