Sejet is a bathing beach approximately 200 metres long located on the south side of Horsens Fjord in Denmark. The beach consists of sand mixed with gravel and stones, approximately 2–4 metres wide at the shore. Water depths increase gradually from the shore. The bathing water is classified as Excellent based on data from the previous year and three preceding bathing seasons.

Water

Fjord bathing area. Beach approximately 200 metres long and 2–4 metres wide with sand, gravel, and stones. Water near the shore and 10–20 metres out consists of sand with stones. Water depth increases gradually. Salinity approximately 1.8%.

Location

South side of Horsens Fjord, accessible via Nørremarksvej. Limited parking available. An information sign is posted at the beach. Nearest town is Horsens.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Analysis results over 5 years show exceedances of water quality requirements (E. coli and intestinal enterococci content) are correlated with rainfall intensity. Pollution is typically short-term, lasting maximum 3 days after heavy rainfall. Overflow structures on the fjord's south side can cause impacts during heavy rainfall. Treated wastewater from Horsens Centralrenseanlæg (treatment plant) can affect bathing water quality.

Risks

Overflow structures can discharge diluted wastewater during heavy rainfall. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) can accumulate at the shoreline; swimming is not recommended near large accumulations. Toxins can form in decaying seaweed, and seaweed can protect disease-causing bacteria from UV radiation, allowing longer survival. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur. Risk of phytoplankton growth is low.
