Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Sidselbjerg is a 400-meter-long beach with a width of 100 to 120 meters, characterized by fine sand with occasional patches of small stones. The beach is located along the North Sea north of a summer house area near Kryle, in a scenic coastal environment with high dunes and sandy shores. The water is classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring of fecal indicator bacteria.

Water

Saltwater body in the North Sea. The seabed consists of fine sand with occasional patches of small stones. Water depth increases abruptly offshore and is highly variable due to tidal and weather conditions. Current direction is primarily from north or south.

Location

The beach is located north of Kryle along the North Sea coast. Access is via Husby Klitvej, which leads to a large parking area with associated toilet facilities.

Facilities

Parking area, toilet facilities with drinking water, lifeguard warning sign, blue flag, first aid kit, rescue ring, trash bin, disabled access, and a control point.

1 June to 1 September

Water Quality

Water classification: Excellent quality. Monitoring is conducted routinely during the bathing season (1 June to 1 September) by testing for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. Classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins based on data from the preceding 4-year period. No known sources of fecal pollution have been identified in the area.

Risks

Risk of rip currents (revlehuller) where water depth increases abruptly. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large macroalgae accumulation in the water. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. No known short-term fecal pollution sources.
