Stadil Fjord Ved Alrum

Alrum Strand is a small, charming beach located on the northern part of Stadil Fjord. The beach consists of fine sand with scattered small stones and is bordered by reed marsh. A bathing pier is available for swimmers. The water depth increases gradually, making the area very child-friendly. Stadil Fjord reaches a maximum depth of 2.5 metres.

Location

Alrum Strand is accessed via a side road to Stadilvej leading to a car park. A large shelter facility and campsite with water and toilet facilities are located immediately north of the beach.

Season

Bathing season monitoring occurs annually with classification review in May before the season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine sampling of faecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted regularly over the preceding 4-year period. Classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Potential sources of faecal pollution include Ejstrup Bæk (950 metres southeast) and Nørgård Bæk (1,300 metres southeast); bathing is not recommended at their outflows. Drainage ditches along the coast pose risk during rainfall. Three watercourses (Madum Å, Star Grøft, Tim Å) combined outlet 2.2 kilometres west includes Stadil Treatment Plant with emergency overflow capacity. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Risk of large macroalgae accumulation is low. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
