Sandy beach in Aabenraa Fjord. Beach length approximately 400 meters with widths varying from 30 to 80 meters. Water depth within 500 meters is under 5 meters. Seabed composition is sand. Water level in the fjord can vary significantly, particularly during storms. Current direction is typically southward.

Location

The beach is located in the innermost northern part of Aabenraa Fjord, in close proximity to Aabenraa town. Parking is available north of the beach. The area is served by public sewerage infrastructure.

Facilities

Information and warning signs, two rescue and first aid posts, telephone, toilets, accessible toilet facilities, paved pathway, bathing pier accessible to wheelchair users, parking area.

Season

1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality. Classification based on regular control samples taken during 2019 to 2023. Twenty control samples are taken during each bathing season with results published on the municipality's website. The largest probability of pollution occurs during heavy wind and rain, which can cause sewer system overflows from watercourses and surface water; such pollution is always short-term and typically lasts a maximum of 3 days.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria blooms, particularly after rainy periods followed by warm weather. Large amounts of macroalgae (seaweed) can occur at the water's edge. Risk of phytoplankton growth is considered very low. Occasional pollution from incidents involving pleasure boats, manure tanks, and sewer pipes is possible. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur.
