Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on 2020-2021-2022-2023 monitoring data). Identified pollution sources include urban wastewater from Ravello, Scala, and Atrani municipalities treated through Imhoff tanks, active sludge biological treatment, and primary treatment plants. Emergency overflow from the primary treatment plant at Marmorata and the Reginna Minor stream mouth are also identified as potential pollution sources.

Risks

Possible sources of contamination include the Marmorata spring at the sampling point, emergency overflow from the primary treatment facility at Marmorata, potential breaks in the submarine pipeline serving the Marmorata primary treatment plant, and the Reginna Minor stream mouth on the east side.
