Ponente Beach is a coastal bathing area located in Camogli in the Liguria region. The beach consists of coarse gravel and sand, situated next to a small tourist harbour. The area is residential in character. The beach has been classified as excellent for water quality during the 2008-2011 monitoring period.

Coastal water body (Genova - Camogli water body). The bathing area extends 0.566 square kilometres. The beach comprises coarse gravel and sand.

Location

Camogli, Genova province, Liguria region, Italy. The beach is located beside Camogli's tourist harbour in a residential zone.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). Identified pollution sources include a coastal wastewater treatment plant (depuratore), a submarine outfall pipe, and the harbour. No special monitoring measures or particular monitoring protocols are currently active. The Ligurian Sea does not show cyanobacterial blooms due to oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been recorded in the past four years.

Risks

Coastal wastewater treatment plant, submarine outfall pipe, and harbour infrastructure are present in the area. A modelling approach for characterising and managing short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations is under development.
