Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). Identified pollution sources include a wastewater treatment plant (Depuratore Sori, località S. Erasmo), a submarine outfall, and the Torrente Sori river mouth.

Risks

The Ligurian Sea is not characterised by cyanobacterial blooms due to predominant oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the last four years.
