Torre Zone is a bathing area located in Pieve Ligure, Liguria, characterized predominantly by rocky coastline facing cliffs opposite the railway station and town. The water body is part of the Genova-Camogli coastal system with unstable mountain-influenced characteristics. The area has an excellent water quality classification based on 2008-2011 monitoring data. The Ligurian Sea does not experience cyanobacterial blooms due to its predominantly oligotrophic conditions, and no cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been recorded.

Coastal water body (CWA3 category: coastal waters with mountainous relief and low stability). Area extends 1.228 square kilometers. Part of the Genova-Camogli hydrographic body. Drainage basins include Fosso Terrile and Rio Sapelo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). Identified pollution sources include the Pieve Ligure treatment plant at Scalo Torre location, the submarine outfall, and the river mouth. No special monitoring measures or particular assessments are currently activated.

Risks

Potential pollution impacts from wastewater treatment facility, submarine discharge conduit, and river mouth. Cyanobacterial bloom risk is low due to oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal species proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.
