Location

Nice, France. Bathing sites extend from La Lanterne to Coco Beach, with 26 designated sampling locations. The mayor's jurisdiction extends 300 metres from the communal shoreline.

Season

1 June to 30 September 2024. Pre-season sampling conducted between 10 and 20 May.

Water Quality

Bathing water quality is classified based on bacteriological analysis of Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. Water is classified as good quality when E. coli levels are below 1000 per 100 ml and intestinal enterococci are below 370 per 100 ml. Weekly bacteriological monitoring is conducted, with results interpreted according to ANSES standards and European Directive 2006/7/CE. Pollution sources include domestic, urban, industrial, and agricultural activities, as well as sanitation network overflows during heavy rainfall and stormwater discharges.

Bacteriological contamination from pathogenic germs introduced directly by bathers, sanitation and stormwater networks, and watercourse inputs.
