Gammel Ålbo Camping is a fine sand beach with white sand located along Lillebælt. The beach is 200 meters long and features wooden groynes and a bathing pier. Access is primarily for guests of the adjacent camping facility. The water is classified as brackish.

Lillebælt (Little Belt), classified as brackish water. Water depth increases rapidly from the shore. Current direction is variable and can be strong. Depth and current conditions are subject to tidal variation.

Location

Adjacent to Gl. Ålbo Campingplads near Kolding, Denmark. No parking is available at the beach.

Facilities

Bathing pier. Other facilities are reserved for camping guests. No lifeguards, toilets, showers, or disabled access are mentioned.

Season

Monitoring occurs during the official bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May before the season begins.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality in 2020 based on routine water samples analysed for E. coli and enterococcus bacteria over the preceding four years (2016–2019). No known sewage or watercourse discharge outlets in the surrounding area.

Risks

Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) washup at the water's edge. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms but can occur. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms but can occur. Glass shards and litter may be present. Strong and variable currents. Rapid depth increase.
