Tankefuld Strand is a narrow rocky beach with some reeds and grass along the shoreline, located beneath Tankefuld forest in Svendborg Municipality. The beach stretches 450 metres with water depths under 2 metres for the first 40–50 metres offshore. The seabed consists of sand with occasional stones and mussel banks. The eastern and western ends of the beach are relatively inaccessible due to houses, gardens, and private boat docks built to the water's edge.

Water

Saltwater in the South Funen Archipelago (Det Sydfynske Øhav). Water depth less than 2 metres for the first 40–50 metres offshore. Current direction varies with wind conditions, primarily from southwest and northeast. Tidal range less than 0.5 metres. Seabed: sand with occasional stones, tang (seaweed), and mussel banks.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality. Classification based on routine control samples from the last four years. Analysed for E. coli and Enterococcus bacteria. Monitoring occurs during the bathing season (1 June – 15 September). Classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Low risk of algal blooms and phytoplankton blooms based on water measurements, though blooms can occur during prolonged warm periods with high nutrient levels. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) accumulation in the water and on the shoreline; bathing is not recommended near large amounts of beached seaweed as toxins can form during decomposition. Potential sources of faecal contamination include overflow structures and outlets to Svendborg Sound during heavy rainfall, though dilution in the sound reduces risk to the beach. Sudden contamination from pleasure boat incidents, slurry tanks, or sewage pipe failures is possible. Glass shards, litter, and chemical contamination including oil spills can occur. Swimming is prohibited from the boat dock due to risk of collision with sailing vessels.
