Lehnskov

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Lehnskov Strand is a stony beach with occasional sand patches located below Lehnskov Huse and Fredskov at the mouth of Svendborg Sound. The beach extends over 500 metres in length and varies from 2 to 10 metres in width. Water depth is less than 2 metres within 40–70 metres from shore. The beach is wind-exposed with significant coastal currents.

Saltwater body in the Southern Funen Archipelago. Tidal range is minimal (under 0.5 metres). Water depth reaches 2 metres within 40–70 metres from shore. Seabed consists of stone with seaweed near shore and sand further out.

Location

Lehnskov Strand, 5700 Svendborg, Denmark. Parking is available along the road. The nearest facilities include a toilet building located mid-beach.

Toilet building. Parking available. Mobile coverage. No lifeguard tower, no bus service, no kiosk or restaurant, no blue flag, no bathing platform.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. This classification is based on routine control samples collected during the bathing season (1 June – 15 September) over the last four years, analysing faecal bacteria (E. coli and Enterococci). Classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up, particularly behind breakwaters. Low risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton blooms, though blooms can occur during prolonged warm periods with high nutrient levels. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur. No registered known sources of faecal pollution, but swimmers should be aware of potential sudden contamination from pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines.
