Tenderingssee Strandbad

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Tenderingssee/Strandbad is an artificial lake in Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia. The bathing water has been classified as excellent for four consecutive years from 2020 to 2023. The lake covers 45 hectares with a sandy and silty substrate, and has been designated as an EU bathing water since 1996.

Water

Artificial lake. Area: 45 hectares. Mean depth: 9 metres. Maximum depth: 15 metres. Water temperature ranges from 12.5°C to 23.5°C with a mean of 18.2°C. pH ranges from 8.2 to 8.5. Transparency ranges from 0.5 to 2.0 metres with a mean of 1.25 metres. Natural nutrient content is mesotrophic. Water renewal occurs through groundwater throughflow. Substrate composition is sandy and silty.

Location

Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia. The bathing area is operated by Turnverein Hünxe-Bruckhausen at Waldweg 63, 46569 Hünxe. The beach or shore section measures 248 metres.

Water Quality

Bathing water classification: Excellent (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023). No relevant pollution sources have been identified. Uncontaminated rainwater discharges are present but investigation findings have shown no irregularities.

Risks

Risk of future cyanobacterial mass development: low. Risk of future phytoplankton mass development: low. Bird presence is rare with minimal impact on the water.
