Spidsbjerg Strand is a 550-meter-long beach located in a dune area in the northern part of Husby Klitplantage along the North Sea coast. The beach consists of very fine sand with few stones and is 50 to 100 meters wide. It is a Blue Flag beach surrounded by beautiful natural landscape and is popular with guests from nearby holiday home areas and tourists. The water is classified as salt water with variable currents primarily from the north, and water depth increases sharply offshore due to tidal variations.

Location

Spidsbjerg is located in the northern part of Husby Klitplantage. Access to the beach is via sand paths. Parking is available at the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguard post, first aid kit with emergency telephone, toilets, waste bins, parking, Blue Flag information, bathing advice, warning system for degraded water quality.

Season

Routine monitoring samples are taken during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually before the bathing season starts.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. This classification is based on routine monitoring samples taken during the bathing season and analyzed for E. coli and enterococcus bacteria. The classification is recalculated annually before the bathing season starts. No fecal sources capable of causing degraded water quality have been identified in the area.

Risks

Rip currents (revlehuller) are common and dangerous. Risk of cyanobacteria blooms is very low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is very low. Low risk of large amounts of macroalgae washing ashore. Chemical contamination including oil spills may occur in case of accidents.
