Location

Verbania, Verbano Cusio Ossola province, Piedmont region, Italy. The beach is situated between the Navigation dock and Villa Taranto complex. Public access is available.

Facilities

Public beach. A dedicated dog beach has been established nearby. Animal access is permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Sufficient. Based on 19 routine samples from 2020-2023. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 109.4 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile: 198.6 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci 90th percentile: 250.8 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile: 464.5 MPN/100 ml. A sewage overflow outlet is present within 200 metres. A treatment plant is located approximately 2 km north of the monitoring point. The area is classified as having high pressure due to extensive sewerage networks, high building density, and the Verbania Consortium treatment plant discharging into the lake near the city. The nearby tourist port, boat storage activities, and navigation dock present probable pollution risks from mineral oils and fuel.

Risks

An overflow structure within 200 metres may compromise water quality during heavy rainfall. Intense precipitation can trigger overflow devices; accidental pump failures can cause untreated wastewater discharge. Potential pollution from mineral oils and fuel from the tourist port, boat storage, and navigation dock. Risks from inadequate sewerage network management.
