Zwischenahner Meer at Öltjen Halfstede is the third-largest inland lake in Lower Saxony. The lake covers 526 hectares with a maximum depth of 5.50 meters. The lake was formed by the collapse of a salt dome due to salt mining subsidence. It is a popular water sports destination, though motorboats are prohibited.
