Zwischenahner Meer is the third-largest inland lake in Lower Saxony, covering 526 hectares with depths up to 5.50 meters. The lake formed from the collapse of a salt dome caused by salt extraction. It is a popular water sports destination where motorboats are prohibited. The bathing area near the youth hostel is primarily used by its guests.
