A sandy beach with fine quartz-feldspathic and calcareous-siliceous sand, with an average slope of 3%. The beach is protected by natural and artificial rocky outcrops. The beach strip extends 20 metres on average and borders a promontory. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit) is 80 metres, with astronomical tidal range of 30–50 centimetres.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (as of the profile review date). The Pesaro municipal sewerage system comprises mixed-type collectors conveying wastewater to five treatment plants. The largest plant is located at Borgheria near the Foglia River mouth, with a capacity of approximately 90,000 population equivalents and flow rate of 20,000 cubic metres per day with biological treatment. Over the preceding four years, 24 annual inspections of Table 1 parameters and 6 annual inspections of Table 3 parameters were conducted, all compliant with legal limits. Some mixed urban wastewater collectors remain unconnected to the Borgheria plant, with disinfection stations discharging to the Foglia River and Genica stream; some have been partially remediated following connection to new black sewerage with discharge to the Borgheria treatment plant.
