Santa Marina zone is a narrow, pebbly beach located in Pesaro within the San Bartolo water body. The beach features a cliff face prone to landslides immediately behind it, with rocky outcrops on the rapidly sloping seabed and both submerged and exposed rocky formations.

Location

Pesaro, Marche region, Pesaro Urbino province, Italy. The beach is part of a regional park area with scattered houses.

Facilities

Free beach equipped with lifeguard service. Animals are prohibited from the beach during the bathing season under municipal regulations.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E. The Pesaro municipal sewerage system comprises mixed collectors conveying wastewater to five treatment plants in the territory. The largest plant is located at Borgheria near the mouth of the Foglia River, serving the Pesaro urban centre with a capacity of approximately 90,000 equivalent inhabitants and a flow rate of approximately 20,000 m³/day with biological treatment. Over the last four years, 24 controls per year were performed on parameters of table 1 of annex V of Legislative Decree 152/2006 and 6 controls per year on parameters of table 3, all compliant with legal limits. Some mixed urban wastewater collectors not connected to the Borgheria treatment plant have disinfection stations discharging into the Foglia River and Genica stream; some have been partially remediated following connection of most buildings in certain city districts to the new separate sewer system feeding the Borgheria treatment plant.
