Sandy beach located at Via Parigi in Pesaro with fine quartz-feldspar and limestone-flint sand. The beach has a gentle slope of 3% both above and below water, and is protected by artificial emerged rocky barriers. The area is surrounded by urban settlements with a mean beach width of 80 metres. The beach features a grassy area requiring protection, located on municipal rather than state-owned land.

Water Quality

Consistently classified as Excellent from 2015 to 2018. 2015: E. coli 95th percentile = 157.8 CFU/100 mL, intestinal enterococci 95th percentile = 64.8 CFU/100 mL. 2016: E. coli 95th percentile = 228.0, enterococci = 97.9. 2017: E. coli 95th percentile = 226.5, enterococci = 76.1. 2018: E. coli 95th percentile = 218.1, enterococci = 37.1. Wastewater treatment: The main treatment plant at Borgheria (near the Foglia River mouth) serves urban Pesaro with capacity of approximately 90,000 equivalent inhabitants and flow of approximately 20,000 m³/day with biological treatment. The plant is managed by Marche Multiservizi with 24 annual control checks and 6 annual parameter checks, all compliant with legal limits. Multiple sewage collectors convey wastewater to five treatment plants across the municipality. Some mixed urban sewage collectors not connected to the main Borgheria plant discharge to the Foglia River and Genica stream with disinfection stations; partial remediation has occurred through connection of buildings to new separate sewers.

Risks

Foglia River mouth: approximately 5.3 km from the mouth, some mixed urban wastewater sewage collectors not connected to the main Borgheria treatment plant discharge into the river, along with approximately 20 overflow and pumping stations. Microbiological pollution from urban wastewater discharge has been identified as a short-duration pollution event source. No cyanobacteria bloom evaluation indicated. No harmful algal bloom, phytoplankton proliferation, or potentially toxic species documented during the monitoring period; no events reported in the preceding four years.
