Agger Tange Strand is a typical west coast beach with large dunes located north of Thyborøn on the North Sea coast. The beach is 50–100 metres wide and extends for more than 300 metres, divided by coastal defence structures along its entire length. Water temperature ranges from 11–22 degrees Celsius during the summer bathing season from May to August. The beach is classified as excellent quality, the highest water quality classification available.

Water

Coastal beach on the North Sea (Vesterhavet) north of Thyborøn. The beach is 50–100 metres wide and more than 300 metres long. Water depth reaches 2 metres at 60–90 metres from the shoreline. Salinity ranges from 30–35 psu. Predominantly northerly currents with locally strong currents possible near coastal defence structures. Water temperature in summer ranges from 11–22 degrees Celsius.

Agger Tange Strand is accessible via route 181 from Hanstholm. The nearest address is Lange Mole Vej 5, 7770 Vestervig. Parking is available at the beach.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as excellent, the best water quality classification. This classification is based on data from four years of water analyses. No significant point sources of pollution have been identified. The treatment plant at Tåbel has an outlet at structure 93, approximately 8 kilometres away, and is not operating at capacity.

Risks

Risk of foam algae during westerly winds, particularly in summer. Seaweed may wash ashore during storms and onshore winds, creating aesthetic problems. Blue-green algae blooms are unlikely due to the turbulent conditions typical of the west coast.
