Asnæs Forskov is a stone beach approximately 220 metres long and 10 metres wide, located in Kalundborg Municipality, Denmark. The beach features a bathing pier at Asnæslejren and is classified as Excellent based on water quality measurements from 2019–2022. The seabed is covered with smaller stones, and the beach is accessible by vehicle via Asnæs Skovvej with parking available near the main road or near Asnæs Lejren.

Water

Stone beach with smaller stones on the seabed. The beach is approximately 220 metres long and 10 metres wide. Primary current direction is north and north-easterly.

Location

The beach is located in Kalundborg Municipality, Denmark. Access is by vehicle via Asnæs Skovvej. Parking is available at the main road or via a small road near Asnæs Lejren, from which the beach can be reached on foot by crossing the camp area or via a forest track.

Bathing pier at Asnæslejren. Information boards at the beach for warnings and updates. Parking available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2019–2022. Monitoring occurs minimum 4 times per year. The Kalundborg treatment plant is identified as a source of faecal pollution, though overflows are very rare and risk is considered minimal.

Risks

Short-term pollution may occur due to heavy rainfall causing treatment plant overflows or overflow from drains and watercourses, typically lasting no more than 3 days after rainfall ceases. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms, which can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea. Risk of large quantities of seaweed (macroalgae) at the water's edge, which can extend the survival of faecal bacteria and pose health risks. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution may occasionally occur.
