Nord For Espergærde Havn

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

A bathing beach located immediately north of Espergærde Harbour, opposite Egebæksvang Church. The beach spans approximately 88 metres in length and 60 metres in width. Water quality is classified as Excellent based on measurements from the four most recent seasons. The beach features grass and dunes at the shoreline with scattered accumulated seaweed and vegetation.

Water

Brackish water body with salinity of 1–2%. Water reaches approximately 2 metres depth about 150 metres from the shore. Sandy bottom with some stones. Dominant current direction is from south to north.

Location

North of Espergærde Harbour, opposite Egebæksvang Church. Limited parking available at Espergærde Harbour. Public transport via Kystbanen to Espergærde Station and Bus 388.

Facilities

Litter bins. Bench on grass area. No lifeguard. No toilets or showers. No disabled access. No bathing platform. Dogs on leash permitted from 1 April to 30 September.

Monitoring conducted year-round with 5 samples collected in 2024.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent, based on four most recent seasons of monitoring. Monitoring station 303 with 5 samples collected in 2024. Cyanobacteria blooms may occur in rare cases during particular current directions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Risk of phytoplankton blooms exists. Large areas of seaweed present.

Cyanobacteria blooms possible in rare cases. Risk of phytoplankton blooms. Large areas of seaweed. Risk of sewage overflow from combined sewers during heavy rainfall, with potential short-term water contamination lasting up to 2 days after the event. Treated wastewater is discharged south of the area approximately 600 metres offshore and will only reach the beach under particularly adverse wind and current conditions.
