Skotterup Strand is a bathing beach approximately 400 metres long and 20–40 metres wide located along Strandvejen in Skotterup. The beach has a sandy bottom with weak reef formation and reaches a depth of approximately 2 metres about 100 metres from shore. The water is classified as brackish (1–2% salinity) with a dominant current flowing from south to north. Water quality is rated as Excellent based on measurements from the four most recent seasons.

Water

Location

Skotterup, along Strandvejen (approximately Strandvejen 248). Gravel parking available north of Strandvejen 250. Accessible via Kystbanen railway to Snekkersten Station and Bus 388.

Facilities

Bathing jetty, bathing pontoon, litter bins, bus stop, toilets, tables and benches. No lifeguards. No disabled access. Dogs on leash permitted 1 April–30 September.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on four most recent seasons of monitoring data). Station 304 with 10 samples taken in 2024. Cyanobacteria blooms can occur rarely under specific current conditions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Phytoplankton blooms may occur. Seaweed present approximately 100 metres from shore.

Risks

Risk of sewage overflow south of the kayak club during heavy rain, causing short-term contamination of bathing water for up to 2 days after the event. Cyanobacteria blooms can occur in rare cases under specific current conditions after prolonged calm, warm weather.
