Lido di Viverone is a bathing area on the eastern shore of Lake Viverone in Piedmont. The beach features a grassy waterfront with an equipped zone, paved walkway, and artificial banks. The lake bed consists of sandy slopes that are steeply inclined near the shore and gradually become gentler, with partial rocky areas. The bathing area is surrounded by the town of Viverone and features a tree-lined lakeside promenade ending at Punta Becco.

Lake of Viverone. The bathing area extends 1.534 km². The beach width measures 2 to 2.5 metres. The altitude is 230 metres above sea level. The lake bed is predominantly sandy with steep slopes transitioning to gentler inclines.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 94.2 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 185.1 MPN/100 ml. Enterococcci 90th percentile: 36.6 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 59.1 MPN/100 ml. Urban wastewater is collected by a circumlacual collector that terminates at a treatment plant in Azeglio.

Risks

Two overflow weirs located 300–400 metres from the monitoring point could affect bathing water quality by releasing urban wastewater. The circumlacual collector is undersized and inadequately maintained, potentially causing overflows during high tourist season or heavy rainfall. Boats may release mineral oils and fuel. Cyanobacteria monitoring occurs during the bathing season; in the past four years, one sample showed a density of 20,000 cells/ml or greater, though no toxic effects have been detected. Significant proliferation of aquatic macrophytes, mainly Ceratophyllum demersum and Myriophyllum spicatum, occurs periodically and requires cutting to maintain water access.
