Comuna-Masseria is a bathing area on the grassy shore of Lake Viverone in Piedmont, Italy. The beach features an artificial embankment with a sandy bottom of gentle slope and medium-sized stones. A nearby campground includes a small beach approximately 1.5 meters wide with pebbles, followed by equipped lawn areas. The zone continues with a boat shelter and several small wooden docks serving private residences along the lake.

Water

Lake Viverone (Lago di Viverone). The bathing area extends 1.168 km². The shoreline features a sandy bottom with a gentle slope and medium-sized stones. Beach width is 3–4 meters at the lawn above the artificial embankment. The lake sits at 230 meters above sea level.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT. Classification based on 19 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli: 90th percentile 11.1 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 16.9 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci: 90th percentile 43.8 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 74.8 MPN/100 ml. Impact indicator classified as medium-low due to Class III sewerage. Urban wastewater is collected by a circumlacual collector ending in a treatment plant in Azeglio (Turin Province).

Risks

Stormwater drainage within the bathing zone may influence water quality. A circumlacual collector overflow to the lake could cause microbiological parameter exceedances. Boats may release mineral oils and fuel. Strong eutrophication of the lake creates potential for cyanobacterial proliferation, though no significant densities have been detected in recent years. Possible phytoplankton proliferation and consistent blooms of aquatic macrophytes (Ceratophyllum demersum, Myriophyllum spicatum) occur; macrophyte cutting is performed to maintain water access.
