Bjerghammer is a bathing spot located approximately 2.5 km northwest of Falsled, featuring a west-facing beach on Helnæs Bay. The primary bathing area spans around 150 metres and consists of fine sand beach with scattered grass tufts. A bathing platform is established at the primary bathing area, with small stones at the water's edge transitioning to fine sand bottom with scattered seaweed growth further out. Water depth increases gradually, reaching approximately 1 metre after about 18 metres from shore.

Water

Bathing beach on Helnæs Bay, which borders Lillebælt to the west. The beach is approximately 150 metres long and 8 metres wide at its widest point. The beach consists of fine sand with scattered grass tufts, with stones and coarser sand at the northern and southern extremities. Water depth increases gradually, reaching approximately 1 metre at 18 metres from shore. Current direction is primarily southerly or westerly.

Location

Approximately 2.5 km northwest of Falsled in Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality. Access is via Bjerghammer road, a side road off Assensvej. A parking area is provided, from which a approximately 200-metre path leads to stairs descending to the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored continuously at the primary bathing area through microbiological sampling. Classification is based on microbiological data from the four most recent bathing seasons. Risk of blue-green algae is assessed as low with no blooms observed in the previous 5 years. Risk of seaweed and plankton is assessed as low with no significant observations during bathing seasons in the previous 5 years.

Risks

Wastewater overflow north of the boat harbour at Falsled represents a potential pollution source, though assessed as low risk. Hattebækken stream has wastewater overflows to the north, private discharges, and field drainage outlets, though assessed as presenting no significant risk. Glass shards, oil pollution, and litter can occasionally occur.
