Damsbo Strand is a west-facing beach located in Helnæs Bay/Nørrefjord, approximately 6.5 km from Haarby. The beach is approximately 200 m long and 10 m wide, with a sandy shore and seabed. The shallow bathing area has no diving platforms. The hinterland consists primarily of forest and agricultural land, with protected beach meadow vegetation extending to the shore.

Water

Helnæs Bay/Nørrefjord, a relatively enclosed fjord area in the western Baltic Sea. The beach is shallow and lavvandet (very shallow). Two waterway outlets are located near the beach: Smuttehave Bæk, a small private stream adjacent to the beach, and Hattebæk, a larger public waterway approximately 200 m away. The bay has no dominant current direction and generally features low current speeds. Water salinity varies due to influence from both low-salinity Baltic Sea water and higher-salinity water from Little Belt.

Located in Helnæs Bay/Nørrefjord, approximately 6.5 km from Haarby. Parking is available 50 m from the beach, with additional shaded parking and a public toilet approximately 200 m away. A sign displaying bathing conditions is posted at the beach parking area.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as 'Excellent' according to BEK165, based on bathing water data from the last 4 years. The responsible authority is Assens Kommune. During the bathing season (1 June to 1 September), a minimum of 4 water samples are collected for quality control. Analysis results are published on the municipality's website.

Risks

Possible fecal contamination from the two waterway outlets, particularly following heavy rainfall. Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) are typically transported from the Baltic Sea; risk is higher during summer periods with high pressure over the Baltic Sea and outgoing currents, though risk of accumulation is low due to the closed fjord location. No previous observations of phytoplankton blooms or significant macroalgae deposits. No identified chemical contamination sources, old landfills, or polluting industrial facilities with discharge permits in the area.
