A 4.5 km sandy beach located immediately north of Rønne between Næbbe Odde and Nyker Rev, with some stony sections interspersed. Water depth increases gradually from the shore to 2 meters approximately 100 meters from land, though sandstone formations along the stretch can cause sudden depth changes. The beach continues northward into Hasle Syd beach. A larger stream, Blykobbe Å, flows out onto the beach.

Water

Marine bathing water with stable salinity between 7 and 8 ‰. Water depth increases gradually to 2 meters at approximately 100 meters from shore. Current direction and speed depend on wind conditions, generally small currents except during strong winds.

Location

North of Rønne on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. The southern part is accessible via Antoinettevej from Haslevej. The northern part can be accessed from Nyker Strandvej and Havvej. Multiple parking options are available near the beach.

Public toilets at Antoinette and at the parking area near Havvej. Four rescue posts distributed along the beach (R 020, R 024, R 028, R 030). Multiple parking options near the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as 'excellent' based on 2016-2019 monitoring data. Long-term monitoring from municipal control stations shows good water quality. A sewage overflow from the wastewater system serving Hasle and treatment plant in Rønne discharges at Blykobbe Å approximately 200 meters from shore at about 6 meters depth; overflow occurs approximately twice annually during heavy rainfall. Warning signs are posted if pollution risk occurs.

Risks

Blue-green algae (Nodosaria spumigena, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae and others) bloom naturally each year in the Baltic Sea around Bornholm during warm months (July-August), especially in sunny, calm periods, forming unpleasant accumulations along exposed coasts. Algae can produce toxins; caution advised against ingestion. Small children and dogs should avoid bathing where algae is abundant. Strong onshore winds can cause unpredictable currents due to sandstone formations. Kelp and macroalgae periodically drift onto the beach, causing seaweed odor.
