Bøgebjerg Strand

Bøgebjerg Strand is a 1,500-meter-long natural beach located on the eastern side of Hindsholm with views of Romsø and direct access to Storebælt. The beach is approximately 15 meters wide and composed of medium-sized stones, with the seabed also covered in medium-sized stones. The beach stretches along Bøgebjergvej with summer cottages and a campsite at its southern end.

Water

Saltwater body (Storebælt). Water depth increases gradually offshore, reaching approximately 2 meters at 300 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the west, south, and southwest.

Location

Located on the eastern side of Hindsholm along Bøgebjergvej in Kerteminde Kommune. The nearest town is Kerteminde. Camp Hverringe is situated at the southern end of the beach.

Season

Routine water quality monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is updated annually before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as EXCELLENT. Classification is based on routine monitoring of E. coli and enterococcus bacteria during the bathing season over the preceding four seasons. No pollution sources have been identified in the area surrounding the beach.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) washing ashore. Occasional waste, glass shards, and chemical contamination including oil spills may occur. Sudden contamination from ship accidents, slurry tanks, and sewage lines is possible.
