Dalby Bugt

Dalby Bugt is a 500-metre-long beach composed of fine sand with scattered small stones, located 2 km west of Dalby in a shallow-water area suitable for families with children. The water is classified as salt water with currents primarily from the west and southwest. Water depth remains under 2 metres for approximately 200 metres from the shore.

Water

Salt water. The beach is 500 metres long and 20 metres wide. Water depth is under 2 metres for approximately 200 metres from the shore. The seabed consists of fine sand with small stones.

Location

Located 2 km west of Dalby, in the Kerteminde municipality. The beach is situated below a holiday home area with a natural area to the northeast containing the watercourse Ålekisterenden.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on monitoring samples from the previous four bathing seasons and is updated annually before the bathing season. Monitoring tests measure E. coli and enterococci bacteria as faecal pollution indicators.

Risks

Risk of sewage overflow from the watercourse Ålekisterenden during heavy rainfall, which can contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria. A small rainwater stream discharges southwest of the beach and poses risk during heavy precipitation. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) accumulation in the water's edge. Risk from blue-green algae blooms is low; risk from phytoplankton blooms is low. Occasional pollution from ship accidents, slurry tanks, and sewage pipes is possible.
