Bølshavn is a bathing location situated at the harbor in Bølshavn, Denmark. Bathing takes place from the harbor pier in a bay rather than from a traditional beach. The bay stretches approximately 70 meters from the outermost cliffs to the harbor and covers an area of about 5000 square meters. The water has a rocky bottom and variable depth, with depths exceeding 10 meters outside the bay. A bathing ladder is available on the eastern pier head.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as 'good' based on data from 2016–2019. Long-term monitoring data from the municipal control station shows good water quality. No known pollution sources in the vicinity.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms (Nodularia spumigena, Aphanizomenon flos-aqua and others) occur annually in the Baltic Sea around Bornholm, typically in July–August during warm, calm, and sunny periods. Algae can form toxic substances and should not be ingested; bathing by small children and dogs is not advised where algae concentrations are high. No cases of illness from algae are documented. Kelp and other macroalgae periodically drift into the bay, causing seaweed odor and aesthetic issues. Strong currents and waves can occur outside the bay during onshore winds.
