Dueodde is a sandy beach located on the south coast of Bornholm between Dueodde and Snogebæk, covering approximately 5 km. The beach is predominantly sand with significant stone deposits around Broens Odde and near Snogebæk. Water depth increases gradually from the shore to 2 metres at approximately 100 metres from land. The seabed conditions with reefs and deeper sections are variable and depend on wind and currents.

Water

Coastal sea water. Salinity is stable between 7 and 8 ‰. Water depth reaches 2 metres approximately 100 metres from shore. Current direction and speed depend on wind, with generally small current speeds except during strong winds.

Location

Located on the south coast of Bornholm between Dueodde and Snogebæk. Access is via Fyrvejen, Skrokkegårdsvejen, Bethesdavej, Klitvej, Turistvej, and from Snogebæk. Public parking is available at these access points. The hinterland is a nature area with numerous summer houses.

Public parking available at multiple access points. Toilets at Fyrvejen, Skrokkegårdsvejen, Klitvej, and Snogebæk. Disabled access to the beach from Fyrvejen and Skrokkegårdsvejen. Kiosks and restaurants at Dueodde and Snogebæk. Rescue posts at multiple locations south of Broens Odde with rescue numbers R 270, R 280, R 290, and R 294.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as 'excellent' based on monitoring data from 2016–2019. No sources of wastewater pollution are present near the beach. Monitoring is conducted at the control station.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms (Nodularia spumigena, Aphanizomenon flos-aqua and others) occur annually in the Baltic Sea around Bornholm, typically in July and August, especially during warm, calm, sunny periods. These can accumulate in gelatinous masses along exposed coasts. The algae can produce toxic substances; contact with mouth should be avoided. Small children and dogs are advised not to bathe where algae is abundant. Kelp and other macroalgae periodically wash ashore and can cause unpleasant smell, particularly around Broens Odde.
