Bredalgårde Strand is a 400-meter-long sandy beach located in Venø Bay east of Humlum Camping and Fiskerleje in Struer Municipality, Denmark. The beach is 10–15 meters wide and comprises primarily sand with scattered small stones and shells. The beach fronts a broad natural area that creates an idyllic atmosphere. Water can be accessed via Bredalsvigvej, which leads to the adjacent campground.

Water

Saltwater fjord (Limfjorden). Water depth is less than 2 meters up to 50 meters from the shore. The fjord floor near the beach consists of sand covered with small stones. Current direction is variable with no dominant primary current direction.

Location

Located east of Humlum Camping and Fiskerleje in Struer Municipality, Denmark. Access is via Bredalsvigvej, which leads to the campground. Parking is available.

Toilets, disabled access facilities, waste bins, rescue ring, emergency telephone, warning sign for reduced bathing water quality, parking.

Season

Routine water sampling conducted during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May before the season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classified based on routine water sampling conducted regularly during the bathing season 2011–2014, testing for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. The classification meets regulatory threshold values. Classification is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A drainage pipe from surrounding fields discharges south of the beach and poses a risk of high concentrations of faecal bacteria during heavy rain when faecal matter and manure residues are flushed into runoff. Swimming is not recommended near the drainage pipe outlet and in the inlet to the fishing port. Risk of sudden pollution from incidents involving pleasure boats, manure tanks, and sewage pipes. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Risk of large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) accumulation in the water's edge is low. Glass fragments, rubbish, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
