Venø Øst is a bathing beach located on the east side of Venø Island in Venø Bay, Denmark. The beach is 350 metres long and 10–15 metres wide, composed primarily of sand with scattered small stones and shells. The water in Limfjorden is classified as saltwater. The beach offers views of diverse natural landscapes on Venø Island.

Water

Saltwater fjord (Limfjorden). Water depth increases gradually, remaining under 2 metres within 200 metres of the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the west.

Location

Venø Øst is situated east of Venø town and Venø Camping on Venø Island. The beach is marked with a blue line. Parking is available near the beach.

Facilities

Toilets, waste bins, information signage, parking, and warning signs for degraded water quality are available.

Season

Bathing season monitoring occurs during the official bathing season. The water quality classification is reviewed annually in May before the season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. The classification is based on routine monitoring samples collected during the bathing season and analysed for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. Monitoring data from 2011–2014 showed compliance with quality standards. The classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Macroalgae (seaweed) may wash up in the water's edge. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur. No identified permanent fecal pollution sources have been found in the area.
