Bremdal Strand

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Bremdal Strand is a 500-metre-long beach located centrally on Struer Bay, east of Bremdal in Denmark. The beach is primarily composed of sand with scattered small stones and shells, and is 10–20 metres wide. A large natural area between the town and beach creates an attractive setting with views over Struer Bay. The water is classified as salt water with currents primarily flowing from the west and northwest.

Water

Salt water in Struer Bay. Water depth increases gradually from the shore, reaching less than 2 metres at 140 metres from the coast. The fjord floor consists of sand covered with small to medium-sized stones. Current direction is variable but primarily from the west and northwest.

Location

Bremdal, near Struer, Denmark. Parking is available at several locations along the beach. Bremdal Camping is located at the southern part of the beach.

Toilets, waste bins, parking, disabled access, rescue ring, blue flag, warning sign for reduced water quality, emergency telephone.

Season

Routine monitoring is conducted during the bathing water season. The bathing water classification is revised annually in May before the season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (Udmærket kvalitet). The classification meets the required standard values and is based on routine monitoring samples from 2011–2014 analysed for E. coli and enterococci. Classification is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of macroalgae (seaweed) accumulation. Sudden contamination from boat accidents, slurry tanks, and sewage pipes is possible. No registered sources of faecal contamination with potential to cause reduced water quality. Glass fragments, waste, and chemical contamination including oil spills may occur.
