Camping Fleiola

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Camping Fleiola is a sandy beach located in the southwestern part of Lake Caldonazzo in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The beach has a negligible and consistent slope between the emerged and submerged zones. It extends 300 meters in length and 10 meters in width, covering an area of 0.9 square kilometers at an altitude of 449 meters above sea level. The beach is situated a short distance from the Valsugana railway and borders the Mandola stream to the southeast.

Water

Lake Caldonazzo. The lake is part of the Brenta hydrographic basin. Mean total phosphorus concentration for 2014–2016 was 21 µg/l. Nitrate concentrations are well below vulnerability thresholds. An internal phosphorus load from sediment release during anoxic periods represents approximately 28% of the total load.

Camping with all services. Animal access allowed from 15 May to 15 September, restricted to the beach walking path.

Water Quality

Excellent classification for 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The lake has no direct sewage discharge; wastewater from surrounding municipalities is treated at a purification plant in Levico and discharged into the Brenta river. During intense precipitation events, untreated effluent may overflow into the Mandola stream due to incomplete separation of municipal sewer networks. Potential cyanobacterial blooms identified.

Potential release of raw sewage from the lifting station in Calceranica in case of malfunction. Risk of untreated effluent overflow into Mandola stream during heavy rainfall. Potential for cyanobacterial bloom formation.
